Potts Harbor Lobster. Maine's only solar lobster wharf.
Why Solar? It is environmentally responsible.
On September 10th, 2012, Potts Harbor Lobster and Reversing Falls Lobster Wharf became Maine's only commercial working waterfront to power their operations with clean, reliable energy!
The installed 10kw system is expected to produce over 13,000 kwhrs of clean, reliable electricity a year. By reducing electricity made from traditional fossil fuels, Potts Harbor is are able to keep over 20,000 pounds of CO2 from entering into our atmosphere each year. That is the equivalent to 1,020 gal of gasoline or 21 barrels of oil.
Jim Merryman, founder of Potts Harbor Lobster believes, "We all need to be better stewards of the environment. The ocean is our livelihood and home to countless species. It's up to us to preserve and protect that which sustains us."
At Potts Harbor Lobster we have been educating our customers about responsible harvesting and traceability. Our customers have been educating themselves on sustainability and responsible business practices. The more our customers know, the choosier they become, and the more we all look for a business with a greener philosophy.
Our lobsters are getting greener everyday.
